From Stages to Sunsets...
About Us:
We’re Kyle & Cat:
…a married couple in our early 30’s who have recently traded in our lives of full-time theatre for the adventure of a lifetime!
In November of 2022, we sat at the firepit in our Branson, MO home and daydreamed about the kind of adventures we wanted to have in life. We realized we were at a crossroads… We were in our late 20’s with good job, a home, and a community. We could have decided that day to put down our permanent roots and raise a family and likely would have been happy.
But we’re artists and creatives at heart… and we weren’t ready to give up our free spirits quite yet….so we did the opposite:
We quit our jobs, rented out our house, sold most of our earthly belongings and booked a 1-way ticket for Cape Town, SA. We started watching travel vlogs, taught ourselves how to create content, and decided we’d try our hand at becoming full-time travel vloggers.
We gave ourselves 2 years: 2 years to prepare, to save, to learn, to invest… and as I write this “About Us” page, I am literally 3 hours in to that fateful South Africa-bound flight on Feb 6th, 2025.
The internet is flooded with travel vloggers, but something I realized was missing in that space was “approachable” travel. What good is a beautiful drone shot if you don’t learn how to travel to that place yourself? Who does it serve to only show the “splurge” meals and not the 4-days-of-pb&j’s because you ran out of money? Where are all these travelers finding crazy good deals when I can’t find a trip 5 states over for less than $600? What about safety? Mental health? Burnout?
There’s that incredibly cheesy quote that says something along the lines of “be who you needed when you were younger.” While that doesn’t directly apply to this situation (we’re 31 and 34), I realized it only took a little zhuzhing to become a mantra that did:
Create the travel vlog you wish already existed.
We’re both actors by trade; Kyle is a director and designer, Cat is a fitness professional and writer. Together we have a hodge-podge skillset and just enough misguided optimism that this…could actually work. And if it doesn’t? Then we’ll have spent a year meeting people from around the world, working a wide array of work-exchange jobs, and collecting stories we can tell for the rest of our lives. I know plenty of people who regret the chances they didn’t take, but I don’t know any that regret the ones they did.
Life is short, I for one, want to live it while we can!
So what can you expect from KyleCaughtaCat?? As of now, the following things:

- Social media presence on both Instagram and TikTok (though tbh, we both find TikTok overstimulating and may eventually give up on it altogether)
- A bi-weekly blog post detailing our adventures, how-to’s, logistical travel tips…
